How Did You Get That Done?
I’m a little busy these days, ok I’ve been busy for years now. People assume
I never sleep and often ask, with a truly puzzled look, “How do you get all
of that done?”
But I think that if you’re serious about growing and crafting your relationships,
your business or your dreams, it’s the wrong question.
Here are three better questions to ponder.
How do you invest your time?
Invest - not spend – big difference. I’m not arbitrarily completing tasks. Instead,
I’m taking strategic steps that move things forward. Some days I only have minutes
outside of the day-to-day and these investments move things forward about an inch.
Other days are full of breakthroughs, leaps and bounds.
What do you say “No” to?
I prioritize constantly. None of us can get to everything on our lists every day.
That means saying “No” to things that do not fit within our plans and goals.
What’s on your “Yes” list?
My To-Do lists are full of practical, strategic and a few fun items, but not a lot of fluff.
Would I love to understand all the details around the latest Netflix series? Absolutely.
Is it worth giving up time that I can invest doing the things that I’m really passionate about?
Absolutely not. Maybe one day I’ll understand the nuances floating around
the latest pop culture sizzle, but that would mean a lot of critical things
wouldn’t get done.
Here’s the deal
We all have 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. ALL OF US. The haves and the have-nots.
Those who are struggling and those who seem to have made all of their dreams come true.
How we invest this time will determine our results.
But for now, I have to say “No” to one more edit on this and “Yes” to eating breakfast.
